Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) Services

Career Path Services has successfully partnered with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) to assist our mutual customers with the important work of re-integration into the workforce since 1989. We are proud of the success we've achieved with our customers and the positive, collaborative relationships we have with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRC's).

Individuals referred to us by DVR are eligible for services if the person has a physical or mental disability that results in a substantial barrier to employment and requires vocational rehabilitation services to get or keep a job. VRC's determine eligibility and the type of service we provide. Services are generally intense and short term, with a contract length range of 1 to 18 months. It's an enormous sign of confidence and trust when a VRC refers a customer to us. Our expectations of the participant are full and complete involvement in their search for employment. We're committed to helping participants reach their employment related goals, and we enjoy a preferred provider status in serving DVR participants.

We focus on finding jobs that match your skills and abilities. You, your DVR Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) and your Career Path Services' Employment Specialist will work as a team to create your employment plan and put it into action. Services are short-term and intensive, and may include:

  • Assessment - we begin by assessing your goals and removing any obstacles that have interfered with your job search in the past. Both your Employment Specialist and our workshops can help you decide which path is right for you.
  • Job placement - our Employment Specialists work with employers to locate the right job for you.
  • Training - we'll help you obtain the skills you'll need for your chosen career field.
  • Retention - after you've found a job, your Employment Specialist will provide retention services to help you adjust to your new workplace.

One Customer's Story...

A serious motorcycle accident left "Brad," a former college basketball star, with a brain injury. His injury and subsequent depression and substance abuse issues kept him from working for approximately five years. With his disability, lack of recent work experience and other issues, Brad was having a hard time getting back into the workforce. That changed when he began working with DVR and Career Path Services. Brad completed a work assessment with DVR that helped him decide what type of work he wanted to do. His Career Path Services' employment specialist then found job openings that fit Brad's interests, helped him apply, and provided training after Brad was hired. Brad has been at his current job for more than a year. Now that he's working, Brad is happier, healthier and able to provide for his growing family.
