Services for Businesses
Career Path Services is a proud partner of WorkSource Columbia Basin, where we provide services to job seekers who use the Center's resources and to youth enrolled in our Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services.
Business Services at WorkSource Columbia Basin are provided by a dedicated Business Services Team - please visit WorkSource Columbia Basin's website to learn more. Below are the details of the training opportunities we provide to businesses who are interested in hiring youth:
On the Job Training (OJT)
Often, a potentially great employee lacks some skills specific to your workplace. To help offset the additional costs of training such a person, we offer On the Job Training:
- You choose an employee to contribute to your organization's long-term success - as long as performance is satisfactory, you commit to hire the OJT participant at the end of the training period.
- You save a considerable amount of money - up to 50% of the OJT participant's wages during the training period are paid by Career Path Services.
- You help someone succeed - the job market is tough! Often just a little extra training is all it takes to help someone achieve his or her career goals.
OJTs are customized for each business and include the creation of a training plan. We will monitor your OJT participant's performance and visit you monthly.
Funded by the Workforce Investment Act through the Benton-Franklin Workforce Development Council.
Work Experience (WEX)
Need some extra help? Consider a Work Experience (WEX):
- You pay nothing - WEX participants are paid wages by Career Path Services/WorkSource Columbia Basin. It's like getting an extra-motivated volunteer!
- You have the opportunity to "try before you buy" -our goal is to help WEX participants find good jobs, but you have no obligation to hire them at the end of their training...although you may want to! Many businesses have found WEX to be a great chance to see a potential employee's performance. If your WEX does well but you can't hire them on permanently, a letter of recommendation is appreciated.
- You help someone succeed - by offering someone with limited work experience a chance to gain marketable skills, learn what it takes to thrive in today's workplace and build confidence by demonstrating his or her abilities.
Work Experience is typically short-term (one to nine months). We will monitor your WEX participant's performance and visit you monthly.
